            Everyone deserves
healthy sleep.
At ThinkNapSleep, we believe sleep is a fundamental need—for babies and for parents. When babies sleep well, the whole family benefits.
• Healthy development for your baby — quality sleep fuels growth, learning, and regulation.
• Energy and joy for parents — more quality sleep means more patience, presence, and enjoyment of parenthood.
• A thriving family rhythm — well-rested babies create well-rested families, building a cycle of love and care.
Dr. Shantha Gowda, a board-certified sleep psychologist and mom, is here to guide you with science-based strategies so you and your baby can thrive at every stage.

            “She may brand herself
as a sleep specialist, but Shantha would better be described as a baby whisperer and sleep guru for my family.”
“ My son started
sleeping through the night (with 1 dream feed) at 12 weeks and dropped the dream feed soon after. “

            The Founder
Shantha Gowda, PSYD, DBSM
Dr. Shantha Gowda is the founder of ThinkNapSleep and ThinkSleep, where she brings deep expertise and genuine compassion to families navigating sleep. A licensed clinical health psychologist and one of the few specialists board-certified in behavioral sleep medicine, Dr. Gowda has devoted her career to helping people achieve the quality sleep they deserve.
She trained as a clinical fellow at the Stanford Sleep Medicine Center, where she specialized in sleep and circadian health. She went on to design the first Sleep and Circadian Health Program for the Marine Corps Special Operations Command and now serves as a consultant for the Behavioral Sleep Medicine department at the Stanford Sleep Clinic. She also guest lectures for doctoral students in clinical psychology at universities across the country.
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Gowda consults with organizations including the FBI, Special Operations Command providers, first responders, and collegiate sports teams—helping high performers thrive through better sleep.
At home in San Francisco, she’s also a wife and mom, often found hiking the Presidio with her husband and young son. She knows firsthand the challenges of balancing parenthood, work, and well-being—and she brings that personal understanding into every conversation with the families she supports.

            FAQS

+ Is what you offer the same as sleep training?
ThinkNapSleep’s approach is not traditional ‘sleep training’ in the sense that it’s often perceived, which can sometimes have a negative or overly strict connotation. I believe that you can create healthy sleep routines from the very beginning of your baby’s life. My approach focuses on ensuring that your baby receives all their essential needs (proper nutrition, love, affection, dedicated playtime, sunlight) in a way that naturally promotes healthy sleep without crying, both for naps and nighttime sleep. It’s about building a foundation of healthy sleep habits from birth while maintaining a nurturing and supportive environment.
+ Does it matter if I am breastfeeding or offering formula?
Certainly not! At ThinkNapSleep, I fully support your choice in feeding your baby, whether through nursing, pumping and bottle-feeding, or offering formula. My approach is adaptable and designed to help you navigate your baby’s sleep while managing your preferred feeding method. I help mothers navigate their own sleep and their baby’s sleep while considering milk supply. Your baby’s well-being and your comfort are my priorities.
+ What makes you qualified to help us? Why should I invest in your services?
I bring a unique blend of qualifications to the table, with the valuable experience of being a mother, possessing a doctorate in psychology, and the distinction of being board certified in behavioral sleep medicine. This blend equips me to offer more than just advice; it provides a deep understanding of the nuance of sleep. By investing in ThinkNapSleep, you're not only gaining access to accurate information about sleep, but you're also setting a solid foundation for your family's lifelong sleep habits.
The principles we apply aren't just short-term solutions; they're designed to work for future children, ensuring a legacy of healthy sleep practices within your family. It's an investment in the long-term for your entire family. I’m here to empower you with the tools and knowledge you need to make sleep a valued and sustainable part of your family's life.
+ I’ve heard that changing sleep requires people to be on a rigid schedule. How does your program offer flexibility?
At ThinkNapSleep, I believe in routine, not rigidity. My approach is designed to empower you with the science of sleep so that you understand how to strike a balance between structure and flexibility. While routine can be crucial for fostering healthy sleep habits, I recognize that life often brings disruptions such as vacations, stress, and being on-the-go.
My goal is to help you develop a foundation of healthy sleep habits that can adapt to these real-life situations. I’ll guide you on how to maintain flexibility within reason and, when needed, return to your established routine. It's all about finding the right balance to ensure both a structured and adaptable approach to your family's sleep.
